Quick Christmas Pudding

Ingredients (Click here for measurement conversion)
Fresh breadcrumbs (white or wholemeal) – 50 gm
Egg – 1, beaten
Self-raising flour - 50 gm
Mixed spice - 1 teaspoon
Mincemeat – 225 gm
Milk - 1 tablespoon
Dark treacle - 1 tablespoon

Method
Mix crumbs and eggs in bowl.
Sieve the flour.
Add spice, mincemeat, milk and treacle.
Mix well.
Spoon into a greased 600 ml basin.
Cover with greased greaseproof paper.
Put a layer of foil on the top, tucking edges round rim of basin.
Place in a pan with boiling water halfway up basin.
Steam for 4 hours.
Keep water on boil, refill with boiling water when necessary.
The pudding can he eaten now or kept a week or so.
If it is kept until another day, steam it then for 1 hour.
