Cheese Onion Pie

 

Features

British vegetarian dish. Served mainly as side dish

 

Ingredients  (Click here for measurement conversion)

Cheddar cheese – 600 gm, shredded

Onion – 4 medium/large, chopped

Pastry – as needed, for upper and lower crusts

 

Method

  • Boil onions in a little water.

  • When transparent, drain and reserve the liquid.

  • Mix shredded cheese into hot onions.

  • If mixture seems a little dry, add a little of the reserved stock.

  • Pour mixture into unbaked pie shell and cover with pastry top.

  • Bake at 350 F until shell is golden brown.

  • Serve hot or cold with a salad and pickle.
