1/2 cup Butter or Margarine
1/2 cup Sugar
1/2 cup Brown Sugar, packed
1 teaspoon Vanilla
2 Eggs
2 cup Flour
1 teaspoon Baking Soda
1/2 teaspoon Salt
3 cup Apples, finely chopped, peeled

ALMOND STREUSEL
2 Tablespoon Butter or Margarine
3 Tablespoon Brown Sugar
2 teaspoon Cinnamon
1/3 cup Almonds, finely chopped
Sliced Almonds for garnish


Method for "Harvest Apple Bread (1)"

Cream the butter and sugars until light. Beat in vanilla and eggs. Combine the flour, baking soda and salt. Stir into butter mixture. Batter will be very thick. Stir in chopped apples, combining all ingredients well. Pour into greased 4x12 inch loaf pan. Combine the streusel ingredients in a saucepan. Stir over low heat until the mixture begins to bubble. Spread over batter. Bake at 375 degree F. for 10 minutes. Lower heat to 350 degree F. Bake an additional 30-35 minutes. Test with a toothpick. Remove pan to rack to cool for 10 minutes. Remove from pan. Continue to cool on rack. Sprinkle with sliced almonds.
